I used Getting Things Done (GTD) for years. But about five years ago, it stopped working for me. Keeping everything in one place without much delineation as to its importance overwhelmed me. Since then, I've been on the hunt for systems and tools that will help me cut down the overwhelm and find clarity. Recently, I came across a mindset some product managers use to roadmap work called "Now/Nex...

Should I use Notion or Obsidian for task management?
I have installed this app and started to learn about it how to use. I am just wondering if these videos still hold good as it seems that there are lot of changes and improvement in technology. Please advise if this sequence good to go with or there are other videos should be watched first. Thanks
The concepts are still good but you’re right in that the app has undergone improvements! I’ve made an updated video to get started! Obsidian Quick Start Guide (2024) ruclips.net/video/KWf3tnQkY2Y/видео.html
It doesn't sound like you used Logseq enough to understand how it functions. Daily note is a an option but completely irrelevant if you don't want to use it. Just live off the favorites bar/recent bar or search to find notes or create a new note. Logseq is like walking into a tornado and easily being able to find an unnamed note or any piece of information you're looking for. I stopped using Obsidian when i realized it was a more frustrating version of Apple Notes. Some people's brains function that way and need structure, Logseq allows creative flow without any kind of structure if you don't want it and easily creating structure if you do. Obsidian was a nightmare to create a structure-less workflow.
1:46 bro really flashbanged his audience.
great explanation, thanks! 🎸🎸
Good video thank you. Seems like Obsidian will be great for some people but not me. Sorry to say it, because I get that's it's beautiful, just way way way too complicated. In the future tools like this will just evaluate your text and just work vs. needing markup / refactoring etc.
🔍 Similarities between Obsidian and Logseq: 💻 Both have desktop and mobile apps 💾 Offer paid sync services and support self-hosting sync (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) 🎨 Highly customizable with thriving developer communities 🤝 Strong note-taking and personal knowledge management communities 🔍 Differences between Obsidian and Logseq: 📚 Obsidian is closed-source, Logseq is open-source 🗒️ Obsidian is paragraph-focused, Logseq is outliner-focused 📁 Obsidian has simpler file structure, Logseq uses additional syntax 💭 Final thoughts: 🤔 Choose based on your preference for open/closed source, paragraph/outliner style, and file structure 💻 Both are great note-taking apps, try both and see which fits your needs better
light mode really? this guy is retro

Thanks!!!
Brilliant. Completely forgot I could do that in Obsidian with Canvas.
20000 lumans!!!!! Otherwise a great video. You get plus 1 sub. Just have to remember to watch during the day.
Good video! I'm a visual thinker myself and that's how I've been making notes on my iPad, i.e. by _drawing_ my own mind maps. The "problem" with Obsidian is that it of course doesn't support drawing, but what it does focus on - diagram-like maps, and giving your vault a 2d dimension, it does really well. I'm still to integrate this into my Obsidian workflow but it's definitely something I wanna do (:
Thanks for the overview!
Thank you for your help! My problem was I used Wordpad (Rich-Text ?) instead of Notepad on Windows 10, problem solved!
Great video and thanks for keeping it simple yet dynamic. Kudos
What a load of gobbledygook how does that actually work as a bloodied database mate
I stumbled across this great video by accident while researching something else. I didn't have time to fully digest it, so I clipped it into my notes for future reference.
Fantastic intro video! I've learned so much in just 10 mins, thank you!
"The first thing im going to do is switch to light mode" YOU'RE GONNA WHAT NOW?!
ya that was the exact moment i went blind.
I had to bail because of that. Why?!!!!
@@efaulkner I use it when I'm outside
Nice
There almost no benefits obsidian can offer compared to vscode. - vscode md editing is much better - vscode search capabilities is a bit better - vscode themes much better Obsidian still trying to play wysiwyg but to be honest editing is damn suck in obsidian... bugs and sharpies...
How id editing any different in Code vs Obsidian? They both use normal markdown.
The first thing you do is set it to light mode.. I just had to dislike the video quickly, will keep watching though
Yeah apparently I can't keep everyone happy - when I have it in dark mode I get comments asking for light 😅
Using Heptabase made me realize how much I love databases. But then I realized Obsidian can do it better so I moved back. Thanks to heptabase for giving me database training wheels though!! 😭
Hi. New subscriber here. What music do you have in the background? Really caught my attention around 31:50 mark. And is the annual review video + template no longer available or there is an update?
Nice! Reminds me of Carl Pullein’s “Time Sector System,” just a bit simplified. I’m headed your direction with how I manage stuff, too. Too often Areas and Projects become places where tasks go to die. Time-driven organizations are getting more popular for a reason. Well done!
This is the reason why i don't clip things into my vault... 95% of my vault is all my writings and learnings
Is there a way to have a login interface on LogSeq? I was just wondering if I get my PC to a cleaning service. You never know the intentions of a stranger. 😅
Very nice. I like how you distill GTD down from a "process" to "practical buckets" to help categorize tasks/todos. I use TickTick, and applying this sort of concept may help me to better organize. Thanks!
I love this! My brain didn’t like GTD and I’ve struggled managing my tasks for a while. I’d also be interested in how you have lists for projects and tasks. Do you associate the tasks to the projects? I couldn’t figure this out and keep them in separate columns. Thank you for the inspiration. Looking forward to experimenting with my system.
I'm interested to see how you would set this up in your Todoist mixing projects and tasks in the various lists/stages you have outlined. Would be nice to see this shown on screen with a temporary project which you could delete afterwards.
thanks, just started to follow your content, and appreciate you touching upon overlooked nuances. so overcoming overwhelming as I understood from your video is essentially separating (through separate lists) the tasks + projects that do not move the needle to those from that do, i.e. PRIORITIZE TO FOCUS. would be interesting to see your though process "moving the needle", i.e. a mental framework for prioritization itself. I've recently come across this idea watching these two guys, but I have yet to come across content that makes it obvious. ruclips.net/video/z4Ce-IKXZhM/видео.htmlsi=tE-j3aAJfHUll4_Y&t=1192 www.youtube.com/@TonyRamella/videos and absolutely agree on the mission critical importance of having a dedicated REVIEW PROCESS. plus have a simple system (Bullet Journal) for TRACKING PROGRESS on projects. thanks again for your content! and since new to your channel. these of your videos were helpful afterwards ruclips.net/video/ckvGVQPZNvA/видео.html ruclips.net/user/liveQgoKVjxd2sY?si=TG7M0oS2TixtxZ7i ruclips.net/user/liveG816ep50zYA?si=YGCeecZ3qgbntYqn
completely agree. quick capture just makes you fall into collectors fallacy.
Loving your videos. This pulls together some good key points.
Thanks! I too waffle between "Useful 3rd-party function" and "Developer who may not support in the near or far future" mindsets. If only the Obsidian team could work with the more popular Plugin developers to roll some of these "go-to" functions into Obsidian Core.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Obsidian has a little barrier of entry with all it's shortcuts and minimalistic interface, I wish this video was linked from the initial installation or on their website
I'm so glad you found this helpful!!
Thank you.
left bracket?? WTF``
This answered vital life questions I didn't even know to ask myself. Thank you.
Everyone is trying to solve the same problem. The only reason why there are so many apps is because no one is actually solving it. Stupid copying stupid with a single new idea. There is NO preference!!! Only what one's willing to tolerate over a lesser evil.
What's the tool you're using to do those highlights?
Readwise Reader - there's a link in the description if you're interested in checking it out!
Thank you; will check that out
Thank you bro! That was very helpful
Glad it helped!
This is such a solid video. Keep up the good work!
great video, but in no universe am I paying over $100 a year for a bookmarking/highlighting/reading app, I can do all of those for free elsewhere.
